FAQs

relating to safes.

Why does it
make sense to have a safe?

Recommended by the police and insurance companies, investing in a safe is one of the best moves you can make when it comes to establishing anti-burglary protection. After all, this is how you can prevent your important documents and valuables from being stolen – even if the burglars have already managed to enter the building.

To ensure these unwanted guests don’t simply take your safe away with them, it’s important for you to also be aware of the appropriate type of safe anchoring. If your safe has a key lock, burglars will often spend time looking around the entire building just to find the key. For this reason, the ideal safes are those that are not immediately visible, such as a wall safe that can be hidden behind a picture, or even a furniture safe. And as if that still weren’t enough options, you could even select a safe with a keyless electronic lock.

When you’re looking for the ideal safe, take a look at our comprehensive range and let your imagination run wild. If you have any questions about our range or on purchasing a safe, we’ll be happy to help!

Buying a safe
from HARTMANN TRESORE

So you’re planning to buy a safe and thinking about what to bear in mind when making your purchase and what is important when it comes to safes? Generally speaking, there are four key questions you should ask yourself when purchasing a safe.

First and foremost, you should start by thinking about the value of the objects you would like to store in your safe as well as what the appropriate size would be. As a safe is designed to be around for a long time, you should absolutely think about the possibility of adding further valuables down the line. After all, it is only by considering these factors that you can be sure of selecting the necessary security level. You should also be well informed about the lock type and fire protection before making your purchase.

In addition to the necessary security level, you should also take note of the level of fire protection for your future safe. Do you want your safe to just offer light fire protection, which is ensured by filling it with fire-resistant material? Or will you be storing particularly important documents or even electronic data carriers in your safe, which means only a product with certified fire protection will be good enough.

You will then have to decide on a suitable lock type for your safe. Convenient, modern electronic locks have certain advantages to offer: You don’t need to worry about potentially losing the key, and you can change the code with ease at any time. You should, however, ensure there is an emergency power supply in case you ever forget to change the batteries. If you don’t like the idea of having to remember a code for your safe, you can of course still opt for a conventional key lock – known as a double-bit key lock. Alternatively, you can also select a mechanical number combination lock or a state-of-the-art fingerprint locking system, which allows you to open the safe with ease with just the swipe of a finger.

Safe
security levels

Are you wondering what security level your safe should have? Or perhaps which safe is the right one for your insurance purposes? The essential security level to suit your special requirements is dependent on the value of the goods you intend to store in your safe (not forgetting the likelihood of adding further valuables down the line).

Transporting
a safe

How will my safe actually be transported to its destination? This is a common questions asked by our customers when purchasing a safe. In addition to providing a discreet delivery service using neutral, unbranded vehicles, we can also set up your safe within your home or company premises on request.

Generally speaking, we offer two different types of transport for your convenience:

  • Delivery “free to kerbside” via parcel service
  • Special transport to the place of use (“phase transportation”)

Securing and anchoring
the safe

When it comes to buying a safe, the subject of securing and anchoring it in place has a crucial role to play. After all, safe anchoring is a fundamental aspect of safe security, as it prevents potential burglars from taking off with the entire safe to try and open it later in peace. This does not form part of the safe’s scope of delivery and must be ordered separately.

VdS Schadenverhütung’s stance on securing safes in place is clear, as it recommends that all safes weighing less than 1000 kilograms be professionally anchored.
